Warm and cosy, quiet and peaceful, king sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities, ample parking.
The perfect rural retreat! Come and stay on a bed and breakfast basis in one of our lovely huts. Only a one minute walk to real ale, fine wines and freshly prepared local food.
Each hut sleeps 2 adults (with room for a cot) and provides the ultimate rustic quirky glamping experience (with the essential home comforts). The huts are situated in Drusilla’s paddock and are surrounded by fields full of sheep. They are warm and cosy with king sized beds, heating, tea and coffee making facilities, hot showers and flushing toilets (so no need to brave the elements in the middle of the night armed with a torch).
Shepherd’s huts are a traditional feature of the rural landscape and have been used since 1596 – perhaps not always with king sized beds and toilets though! Our huts have been lovingly built at Drusilla’s by local craftsmen using traditional methods. They are made of wood with corrugated roofs and have metal wheels (having been designed to be towed into the fields by tractors or steam traction engines). They are fully insulated and suitable for staying in throughout the year – even in the snow!
Our huts are named after breeds of local sheep – ‘Dorset Down’ and ‘Horn and Poll’. Their inside decors reflect a “sheep” theme – the huts even have their own shepherds crooks!
Each hut is equipped for comfort with dazzling white sheets, cosy duvets, fluffy towels, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom has a heated towel rack so your towels are always toasty warm and another radiator in the bedroom ensures that is equally warm. Umbrellas and torches have been supplied to help you to find your way safely into Drusilla’s and a motion and light sensitive outside light helps too. Cast iron hanging hooks are provided for clothes and there is plenty of room for cases under the bed. Ample parking is available in Drusilla’s huge car park which is only a few seconds walk from the huts. In the Summer outside furniture and a fire cage is provided so you can sit out under the stars and toast marshmallows! Drusilla’s benefits from “dark skies” so we are the perfect place to look at the stars!
