Took my girlfriend here for a 2 night stay in the shepherds huts. We had an amazing time, probably the best service I’ve ever received. Amazing food at the pub and incredibly friendly staff. Can’t recommend highly enough, will definitely be going back!Amazing 2 Nights Away
Special event last night, and stunning 😀 Fantastic Fruits de Mer. Fantastic lobster. Fantastic pud and fantastic wine. And they gave us a lift home because the weather was bad. Never disappoints!Seafood Night
Nine of us in our walking group went after we did a 5 mile walk nearby.
Apart from the standard pub food they had a 3 tapas for £10 menu – looked really interesting.
Food and drinks quickly started to appear. Service was friendly and timely.
Everyone enjoyed the food – no complaints. Seating was comfortable and prices pretty much standard for the area. Plenty of parking available.
Great Food and Service
There is nothing Olde Worlde about the food or service here. We ate from the set menu which was extremely good value and scrumptious. Tasty chicken, gratin potatoes, generous portion of salmon with creamed potatoes, capers and both with fresh green vegetables. Dessert was cheesecake and pear and almond tart with custard. Staff were attentive and spent time with guests whilst service was brisk and efficient.
We were treated to live music from a lady playing keyboard and guitar really enjoyed our candlelit supper, despite the wet and windy evening outside.
Lovely food, good portions and friendly staff! What more can you ask for! There was an open fire which gave the pub a warm and cosy feel.Evening Out
Nice atmosphere in this old, thatched roofed pub. We sat by the fire which was welcome on a cold day. The service was excellent, very prompt, though this might have been because it wasn’t very busy during lunchtime. The food was mostly ok, there was a reasonable choice and my husband loved his fish and chips.A lovely old pub
Hadn’t been here for years, but delighted to find that it was still as attractive and well-kept. Our first courses were good – a great scotch egg with soft boiled egg interior and some good calamari. I chose jerk chicken as a main course but was surprised to find it came in a sauce, not as I expected it to from eating it in the Caribbean. The chicken was well cooked and tasty, however. My friend said her sausage with bubble and squeak was also good.
Service was efficient and friendly, and it was good value for money.Lovely Place with Good Atmosphere
Just back from staying in a Shepherds Hut for 3 nights it was great, Surprisingly spacious with all the facilities you need, a kettle for coffee and a fridge for wine! Oh yes and a huge bed and ensuite facilities. In a quiet spot on the far side of the car park from the pub. Breakfast was delicious both the meat and veggie options and served until a civilised 11am. We also ate in the pub on one of the evenings and there was a good choice of tasty well cooked food. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Brilliant Few Days
Lovely country pub and restaurant. Everything you would expect from a country eating house, including friendly service. Large car park. If you find this place by accident, you will be glad that you got lost!David Andrews
The location is nice and quiet, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The shepherd’s shed was like a tardis, small on the outside and big on the inside. Nice and clean, food is delicious.Ricky Mugwagwa
